How to Reorder Pages in a PDF

How visual page reordering works

PDFDistrict’s Reorder tool displays all pages of your PDF as a grid of thumbnails. Each thumbnail shows a miniature view of the page, and the original page number is always visible. You rearrange pages by dragging thumbnails to new positions in the grid.

As you drag, the tool updates a live readout of the current page order, so you can see the new sequence at a glance without counting positions. If you make a mistake or want to start fresh, a reset button returns everything to the original order at any point before you download.

How to reorder pages in a PDF

1. 1 Open the Reorder tool at pdfdistrict.com/reorder/ and select your PDF. All pages load as draggable thumbnails.
2. 2 Drag thumbnails to their new positions. The original page numbers stay visible so you always know where each page came from. The live order readout updates as you rearrange.
3. 3 When satisfied, click “Save New Order.” A new PDF with your rearranged pages downloads. Use the reset button anytime before saving to start over.

Keeping track of where pages came from

Reordering multiple pages across a long document can get confusing quickly. Two features help:

• Original page numbers — always visible on each thumbnail, so you can see at a glance which original page is which, even after rearranging
• Live order readout — shows the current sequence of original page numbers in their new positions (for example, “5, 1, 2, 3, 4” if you moved page 5 to the front)

Reorder vs. Merge: which do you need?

Reordering rearranges the pages within a single document. If you want to change the order in which separate PDF files are combined, that’s what the Merge tool handles — you can drag the file cards into the sequence you want before merging.

If you need to change the page order within a document and remove some pages, run Reorder first to get the order right, then use Delete to remove unwanted pages.
