Practical use cases

  • Filling in a line on a form that has no fillable fields.
  • Adding a date, a name or a reference number to a page.
  • Labelling a document, such as “Copy” or “Approved”.

What it does — and doesn’t — change

The text is added on top of the page; the existing text is not edited or replaced. The built-in font covers Latin letters, numbers and common symbols (including accents, ñ and ¿), but not emoji or non-Latin alphabets.

Common problems

  • You see a message about unsupported characters: the text includes characters the built-in font cannot draw, such as emoji or non-Latin alphabets. Use Latin letters, numbers and common symbols.
  • The text lands slightly off the line you wanted: drag it in the preview until it sits where you want; the preview is what gets placed.
  • Nothing happens: the text box is empty — type something first.
