Practical use cases

  • A scanned document where pages came out of order — put the appendix back after the main text, or move a signature page to the end.
  • Rearranging slides or sections of a report exported as a PDF before sending the final version.
  • Moving a table of contents or cover page back to the front after it ended up out of place.

What changes — and what doesn't

Reorder never changes the content of any page — no cropping, resizing, or rotation happens here. It only changes the sequence in which the existing pages appear when the file is rebuilt and saved. Every page keeps a visible label showing its original page number, so you always know where a page came from even after moving it several times. The Reset button restores every page to its original position by sorting on that original number, undoing any dragging you've done in the current session.

Common problems

  • Dragging feels awkward on a phone or tablet: on touch devices, ↑ / ↓ buttons appear on each page instead — precise drag-and-drop is easier on desktop, but reordering itself works on both.
  • You want to remove a page while reordering: Reorder only changes order, it has no delete function — do that separately with Delete, either before or after reordering.
  • Bringing pages together from more than one file? That's Merge, not Reorder — this tool only rearranges pages that are already in one PDF.
