Why scanners add blank pages
- Duplex scanning a one-sided document — the scanner captures both sides of every sheet even when only one side has content
- Separator sheets — automatic document feeders sometimes insert a blank page between batches
- The back of cards, photos, or receipts — scanned along with the front out of habit or because the scanner app captures both sides automatically
How to find and remove them
- 1Open the tool at pdfdistrict.com/delete/ and select your scanned PDF.
- 2Scan the thumbnails — blank pages are easy to spot at a glance since there’s nothing on them. Click each one to mark it for removal.
- 3Click Delete Pages. A new PDF downloads with only the pages you kept — the original file on your device is untouched.
Double-check before you download
On a long scan, it’s easy to miss a blank page buried in the middle. If you want to be thorough before removing anything, run the document through Preview first — it shows every page as a thumbnail grid, so you can confirm exactly which ones are actually empty before you start marking pages in Delete.
Pages also sideways or upside down?
Duplex scanning issues often come bundled with orientation issues — a sheet fed the wrong way produces both a blank page and a rotated one. If some of the remaining pages open sideways or upside down, fix that with Rotate after you’ve cleaned up the blank ones.
Remove the blank pages
