How to sign a PDF for free

  1. 1 Open the tool at pdfdistrict.com/sign/ and select the PDF.
  2. 2 Create the signature. Draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus, or switch to “Type” and write your name in one of three styles. Pick black or blue ink.
  3. 3 Place it. Drag the signature to the signature line on the page preview and set its size. Use the arrows to go to the right page.
  4. 4 Sign. Click “Sign PDF.” Tick “Apply to all pages” first if you want it on every page, for example as initials.

What this signature is, and what it isn’t

This adds a visible signature image to the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and it does not verify your identity. Whether a visible signature is accepted depends on who is asking for it; for documents that require a verified or certified signature, use a service designed for that.

Signing from a phone

The tool works in a mobile browser: open it, choose the PDF, draw with your finger and drag the signature into place. The document never leaves your device. If the PDF has several files to sign, merge them first.

PDFDistrict is a free, browser-based PDF toolkit that processes files locally — files are never uploaded.
